Major Projects
Modernize, build and expand capacity of the system
The City of Toronto and the TTC are developing, improving and expanding the transit network through the delivery of several major projects that will provide faster, more reliable and more comfortable service on the TTC.
Major projects being planned across the TTC network include:
- Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Improvements
- Line 1 Automatic Train Control
- Line 1 Capacity Enhancements
- Line 2 Automatic Train Control
- Line 2 Capacity Enhancements
- Waterfront East LRT
- New Subway Trains
- Western Yard – New Train Storage and Maintenance Facility
Planning and design is already underway. These TTC projects will get you where you need to go faster, deliver a better customer experience, improve the way our customers move through our subway system, and expand some of the TTC’s busiest stations for the future.

The TTC’s Community Liaisons
The TTC’s Community Liaison team is the link between planning, engineering and construction personnel and the local communities, businesses and customers the TTC serves. The TTC’s team is available to answer your questions about any of the Major Projects.
The TTC’s community relations approach is to share as much project and construction information as possible in advance, and support the communities we serve to improve project implementation.
