The TTC began co-ordinating various accessibility and infrastructure improvement projects inside both St Clair and St Clair West stations and along the St Clair streetcar route in the summer of 2016. Construction was required to prepare for the new, accessible streetcars, which are scheduled to begin operating on St. Clair Avenue in 2018.

Streetcars will return to the entire 512 St Clair route beginning on November 20, 2016.

St Clair Streetcar Right-of-Way

While the station projects took place, the TTC was working along the streetcar dedicated right-of-way on St. Clair Avenue.

512 St Clair streetcar route platform adjustments:

  • Adjusted a four-metre section of passenger platform to conform with the deployable ramp working range
  • Installed extra railing for added safety
  • Placed tactile strips for accessibility purposes

Construction involved retrofitting a four-metre section of each passenger platform to ensure customers using mobility devices can easily board the new, low-floor streetcars.
