The TTC is entering the earliest stages of design for the next generation of TTC Subway Trains. These trains will replace those currently used on Line 2 and will also help meet growth in ridership on Line 1. New trains are targeted to be introduced into service starting in 2026, with full rollout through 2030.

To inform the new subway car design, the TTC will engage a diverse range of customers to better understand their needs, starting with ACAT, TTC’s Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit, who provide guidance to the TTC to improve accessibility

  • TTC will be holding a series of small online focus groups, to understand the needs of a diverse range of customers, including those with disabilities and seniors, students, people who ride the subway with bicycles or strollers, monthly pass holders, and those who are eligible for fare discounts.
  • In September 2020, the TTC will be conducting a broad public survey to garner further input from our customers. Check back here in September to access the Survey.

Please note that space is limited and no compensation is offered for participation. Input will help inform the design of our next generation of subway trains. Thank you!
