Train pulling into station

The City of Toronto's City Planning Division and TTC are planning an extension of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth through Scarborough Centre to Sheppard Avenue. The subway extension will add at least three new subway stations, and replace the aging Scarborough RT which is nearing the end of its service life.

Transit Project Assessment Process and Public Meeting

Members of the public, agencies and other interested persons are encouraged to participate actively in the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) by attending consultation opportunities or by contacting staff directly with information, comments or questions.

Why this study?

In October 2013, City Council confirmed support for an extension of the Bloor-Danforth Subway. The Municipal, Provincial and Federal Governments have each committed funding to make the extension a reality.

The Scarborough Subway Extension will improve the level of transit service in this part of the city, provide opportunities for the enhanced integration of transit and land use as well as encourage transit oriented development adjacent to station sites and along the rapid transit corridor.

Planning and preliminary engineering work will examine options and recommend an alignment for the subway.

This will be following by a formal Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) to satisfy the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act.

Once the TPAP is completed, the TTC will lead the detailed engineering design and construction phases of the project.
