Cleaning vehicles and stations

  • Since January, the TTC has been performing significant additional cleaning and disinfection of all public places with a focus on touch and grab points, such as buttons, railings, handles and straps.
  • Every station, bus, streetcar, Wheel-Trans vehicle and train is receiving extra attention multiple times a day, on a daily basis.
  • The TTC takes the health and safety of its employees and customers very seriously and is in daily communication with Toronto Public Health. At this time, the direction is that no additional measures are required. The TTC continues to be a safe method of travel.

Hand sanitizer dispensers

  • Hand sanitizer dispensers are available at the main entrance of all subway stations, inside the paid area. The dispensers are inspected throughout the day to ensure they are available for people to use.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers are being installed on streetcars. The dispensers can be found by the middle doors inside of the vehicle.

Seat barriers and physical distancing signage in stations

  • Several seats on buses, streetcars and subways have been blocked off to allow customers to continue to practice safe physical distancing while travelling on the TTC.
  • These seat restrictions are guidelines to promote physical distancing. Customers travelling with members of the same household or with a support person may sit together.

Fare inspection

  • Starting June 1, Fare Inspectors will be present at key locations on the streetcar network, reminding customers to tap their PRESTO cards when entering a streetcar.
  • In July, Fare Inspectors will resume proof-of-payment inspections, providing education and warnings to those who have not paid.
  • Later this summer, fare inspection and enforcement activities are expected to transition back to their regular operations.
  • To ensure the safety of our employees and customers, all Fare Inspectors must wear personal protective equipment, including a non-medical mask, disposable gloves and eye protection/safety glasses.
