The PRESTO electronic fare payment system is currently being rolled out across the TTC. When fully implemented, at the end of 2016, you will be able to tap your way into all subway stations using a PRESTO card, or swipe your way in using a Metropass. Your fare will automatically be deducted from your PRESTO card and you can sit back and enjoy your ride.

All new and legacy streetcars, as well as 27 subway stations, are currently PRESTO-enabled. By the end of this year, PRESTO will be installed at the remaining subway stations that do not yet have PRESTO available, and rolled out on all buses, including Wheel-Trans.

While PRESTO may be right for you now, during the transition, you are encouraged to carry tickets, tokens or cash, in case your streetcar, subway station or bus does not yet have PRESTO.

New PRESTO fare gates

New modern fare gates are being installed at the remaining subway stations that do not have PRESTO available. The new gates provide an unobstructed path into a station and  offer greater flexibility for flow of traffic into and out of the station. The gates are accessible with a PRESTO card or Metropass only. Customers paying with tokens, tickets or cash must enter the station through the collector booth aisle.

Please check back regularly for more information.
