The Toronto Transit Commission has re-opened Line 1 in time for the afternoon rush-hour. Crews successfully caulked the expansion joints at College Station, preventing further leaks. An absorbent was applied to the track to solidify the liquid and allow crews to thoroughly clean and powerwash the affected area.  Test trains were then sent through College Station to ensure signals and switches are not damaged, and at 1:35 p.m., regular service resumed.

The source of the substance remains unknown, but no major spills have been detected in the area, and the tunnel has been sealed and is safe for trains and people to travel through.

At 11:30 p.m. last night, Transit Control suspended subway service from Bloor-Yonge to Union Stations due to an unidentified liquid streaming in through an expansion joint 500 feet north of College Station. Overnight, TTC crews worked with Toronto Water and Enbridge to determine whether or not the liquid was combustible. Once the liquid was determined to be non-explosive, crews were given clearance to begin repairs.
