Reminder: Portion of TTC's Line 1 to close this weekend
November 2, 2018
The TTC reminds customers that this weekend, Nov. 3-4, there will be no service on Line 1 Yonge-University between Lawrence and St Clair stations while Metrolinx crews continue construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, which is scheduled to open in 2021.
Frequent shuttle buses will run along Yonge St., stopping at each station along the route. At Lawrence, Eglinton and Davisville stations, customers can get on and off shuttle buses on Yonge St. At St Clair Station, customers board inside the bus bay and exit on St. Clair Ave. E., outside the station. The TTC recommends customers use the 97 Yonge bus, in addition to the University side of Line 1, as alternatives during the closure.
Wheel-Trans will be available upon request from any station during the weekend. Customers can speak with a TTC staff member for more information about service frequency. As Lawrence Station is not yet accessible, customers travelling southbound should get off at York Mills Station to make an accessible connection. Customers can speak with any TTC staff member to request Wheel-Trans service from any station and for information about service frequency.
Also, in order to expedite modernization of the subway signalling system and carry out important maintenance work, the TTC will close Line 1 in the downtown core between Spadina and St Andrew stations at 11 p.m. this coming Mon., Nov. 5 through Thurs., Nov. 8. The early closures will allow the TTC to continue work on implementing Automatic Train Control as well as for state of good repair work.
Customers can use the shuttle buses provided, take Line 2 to the Yonge side of Line 1, or use other downtown services such as the north-south routes, 510 Spadina and 511 Bathurst, and east-west routes, 512 St Clair, 505 Dundas, 506 Carlton and 501 Queen to connect between the two sides of Line 1 south of Bloor St. Wheel-Trans will provide service to customers requiring accessible connections from any station.
The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternative routes. For the most up-to-date information, check www.ttc.ca, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.
