Parts of TTC Line 1 to close this weekend
October 24, 2019
This weekend, October 26-27, the TTC is closing two different portions of Line 1 – one each day – to enable crews to continue installation of the Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system.
Saturday
On Saturday only, subway service between St Clair and Union stations will begin at 8 p.m. Shuttles buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station. Summerhill Station will be closed, but all others will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes.
Sunday
On Sunday only, there will be no subway service between Lawrence and Bloor-Yonge stations. Shuttles buses will run along Yonge St., stopping outside each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station. Summerhill Station will be closed, but all other stations will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes. As Lawrence Station is not yet accessible, customers who require an accessible connection should use York Mills Station instead.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and maintenance upgrades.
The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternative routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.
