Exhibition streetcar loop closure - track replacement on south side of loop - update
509 Harbourfront streetcars turning back at Fleet Loop, 511 Bathurst streetcars converted to buses
Work description and purpose
Earlier this year, the TTC and Metrolinx coordinated efforts during the first phase of work to rehabilitate both the TTC’s north streetcar tracks at Exhibition Loop and GO’s Exhibition Station eastbound platform. Exhibition Loop was reopened on the weekend of August 13 providing streetcar service during the Canadian National Exhibition.
The second phase of work at TTC’s Exhibition streetcar loop involves track replacement and drainage improvements to the south side of the loop. The project is scheduled for completion by March 25, 2017, weather permitting.
TTC service (present to March 25, 2017)
- 509 Harbourfront streetcars are operating between Union Station and the Bathurst and Fleet area (Fleet streetcar loop).
- 511 Bathurst streetcars have been converted to buses operating between Bathurst Station and the Exhibition Place grounds. Note: Due to road closures during some events at Exhibition Place, buses may turn back at the Canada Drive loop near the Princes’ Gate.
- Both streetcar and bus operations are planned to return back to TTC’s Exhibition Loop on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
