Hillcrest Yard - increased streetcar storage to maintain service on St Clair during Bathurst Street track renewal
June 21 to September 5, 2020
What we are doing and why
From June 21 to September 5, TTC will be renewing the streetcar track infrastructure at Bathurst Station, and on Bathurst Street next to the station. This work will require a full road closure on Bathurst Street between Bloor Street and Barton Avenue.
As a result of the road closure and track work on Bathurst Street, there will be increased streetcar activity at Hillcrest Yard. As it is vital to maintain streetcar service on St Clair Avenue, and as Bathurst Street is the only feeder street with streetcar tracks north of Bloor Street, streetcars must be temporarily stored at Hillcrest Yard.
Hillcrest Yard has enough room to store 14 streetcars. The other six streetcars serving St Clair Avenue will be stored nightly inside St Clair West Station.
What to expect
Streetcar movement inside Hillcrest Yard can be expected at various times throughout the late evening and night, as equipment staff must ensure they are safely maintained for daily operation.
Regular streetcar operations will resume at Hillcrest Yard once Bathurst Street north of Bloor Street is re-opened.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve transit infrastructure on Bathurst Street and maintain effective service on St. Clair Avenue West.
