King and Church intersection - track maintenance
Starting week of March 12 for approximately two weeks
Work description and purpose
Starting the week of March 12, TTC will be conducting preventative and corrective rail maintenance to the streetcar tracks at the intersection of King and Church. This work will involve welding and grinding rail components and rail joints over a period of two weeks, weather permitting. This work does not require the breaking/removal of concrete.
Work at the intersection will be performed overnight between 11:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. when traffic volumes are at their lowest and a safe work zone can be established. The work zone will be cleared of traffic management signs and pylons by 6 a.m. each day. While efforts will be made to keep noise levels to a minimum, some noise will be unavoidable when certain equipment is in operation.
Traffic and pedestrian restrictions
Traffic will be maintained through the King/Church intersection with some lane and turning restrictions through the work zone.
Traffic management equipment/signs
The related work supplies will be stored neatly as possible nearby when work is not being conducted.
504/304 King and 514 Cherry streetcar services will be maintained through the intersection and work area.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve transit in Toronto.
