Overnight Work – Traction Power Replacement/ Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off Automatic Entrance temporarily closed

Work Description

  1. The contractor will be on-site to install new traction power components at Kipling Station.
  2. Crews will be operating vacuum trucks throughout construction, including overnight. These trucks do generate some unavoidable noise.

Efforts will be made to keep noise level to a minimum.

Work Hours

  • Installation work will be ongoing throughout the weekend, including overnight.
  • Crews will arrive on site at 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 and will leave by 5 a.m. on
    Monday, August 21, 2017

Pedestrian, traffic and transit information:

  • This work is co-ordinated with the scheduled weekend subway closure from Kipling to Islington station. Regular subway service will resume at 6 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017.
  • The Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off automatic entrance will be closed to vehicular traffic. The entrance remains open for customer use. Please use the main entrance if you require vehicular access.

Bus Roadway Improvements

Work description and purpose

TTC will be reconstructing the ramp leading up to the bus roadway, as well as rebuilding the entire length of the roadway within the TTC property. The contract will include concrete repairs to the subway structure, installation of new fencing, sidewalks, storm sewers, catching basins and lighting.

All work will take place behind the construction hoarding. A safe work zone area will be established to allow the contractor to work during the day without impacting customers.

Work hours

The majority of the work on this project will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. as well as some weekends. Periodic night work will be required to deliver material and equipment. For safety reasons, this must occur while buses are not operating in the station.
