Finch Station – West Commuter Lot Rehabilitation Project

West Commuter Lot – reduced parking:
Crews are progressing with the construction and staging activities for the rehabilitation of the Finch West Commuter Lot. The construction will temporarily reduce the number of commuter parking spaces available.
In order to minimize impact to parking, the rehabilitation work is being completed in stages. During each stage of work, up to approximately 500 of the lot’s 1,600 parking spots will be occupied for construction. Parking spaces will be available for customer use during each stage. Alternatively, 1,675 parking spots will be available at the Finch Station – East Commuter Lot.
Parking lot entrance updates:
Yonge Street access:
The Yonge Street entrance was closed for construction. The Yonge Street entrance will re-open in early January, 2018. The Yonge Street entrance access gates will be in the open position during construction for easy entry and exit to help ease congestion in the lot.
Hendon Avenue Access:
The Hendon Avenue entrance access gates will be in the open position during construction for easy entry and exit to help ease congestion in the lot.
Parking lot payment method:
Green P Pay & Display machines will be installed for the duration of construction to reduce queuing on Hendon Avenue during this time. The Green P pay and display machines will remain as the method of payment for the lot for future use.
Finch Station commuter lot project details:
Both of the Finch Station commuter parking lots require repaving. The East Commuter Lot was completed in summer 2017. The West Commuter Lot will be under construction and will involve:
- Resurfacing the parking lots
- Improving the drainage systems
- Improving the lighting system, including the installation of LED energy efficient lights
- Increasing the number of accessible parking spaces
