Advanced Watermain, Utility and Road Works for Finch West Subway Station

January 14, 2011

Construction Notice No. 6e      Update: January 14, 2011

Work is progressing on an extension of Tangiers Road and Murray Ross Parkway in preparation of the Finch West Subway Station construction. Once complete, the extension will provide a detour route around the intersection of Keele Street and Finch Ave West to help ease traffic congestion during station construction.

This advanced work also includes the relocation of the watermains and utilities on Keele St., from Finch Ave West to north of Murray Ross Parkway and the relocation of utilities on Murray Ross Parkway through Keele St. This work is expected to be complete March 2011. (Expected completion date is subject to change due to weather and/or unforeseen events.)

Work Hours

Lane Restrictions

Starting on Tuesday, January 18th, one westbound lane of Finch Avenue West will be closed approaching Keele Street to facilitate watermain work. For this portion of the work contractors will be installing watermains, manholes, and sewers.

Lane restrictions provide a safe work zone by establishing a buffer between the public, traffic, and the excavation. Motorists may face temporary to significant traffic delays due to varying lane restrictions on the following streets:

Paid duty officers will be on site at the intersection to ensure safe traffic flow.

Pedestrian and Construction Vehicle Access

The sidewalks will remain open at all times to maintain pedestrian access during this portion of construction. Construction vehicles will access the construction site on
Keele St. at Murray Ross Parkway.

TTC Bus Route Services

Transit delays can be expected during peak times on 36 Finch West, 107 Keele North, 41 Keele and 107 Keele North bus services. Your patience during this time is greatly appreciated. We regret any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this work.
