Overnight Closures on Keele Street South of Finch Avenue West

Starting in the early morning on Wednesday, March 28th from midnight to 6 a.m., emergency dewatering work will close southbound Keele Street from Finch Avenue West to Toro Road. Northbound Keele Street will close the following morning Thursday, March 29th from midnight to 6 a.m. from Toro Road to Finch Avenue West. Paid duty officers will be on Keele Street redirecting traffic during the closures.
 
Construction work includes emergency dewatering activities in the extraction shaft.  This work is expected to last overnight for two days.

Alternate Routes for Motorists

The alternate northbound detour route is east on Toro Road, north on Tangiers Road and back on to Finch Avenue West.  Southbound traffic will travel east on Finch Avenue West, south on Tangiers Road and west on Toro Road back on to Keele Street southbound. Motorists please follow detour signs and paid duty officers through this construction zone.

TTC Bus Route Services

Bus services will be maintained on Keele Street. Pedestrians please follow posted signs and instructions from paid duty officers. All bus stops on Keele Street will be maintained between Finch Avenue West and Toro Road. 

Businesses on Keele Street Remain Open

Pedestrian access to all the businesses on Keele Street between Toro Road to Finch Avenue West will be maintained. Finch Avenue West access to the plaza at 3926 – 3932 Keele Street will be maintained west of Keele Street. Finch Avenue West access to the TD Bank and McDonalds will be maintained east of Keele Street.

Work Hours

The City of Toronto has approved a noise by-law amendment for major transit projects which allows contractors to perform overnight and weekend work for the duration of the project, when required, to minimize impact on the local community. Extended work hours are expected to occur in the Keele/Finch area.
