Rescheduled: Steeles Avenue West Roadway Shift west of Keele Street Begins on June 5, 2013

June 4, 2013

Beginning June 5, 2013, the roadway on Steeles Avenue West will be shifted south in both directions, west of Keele Street for subway construction. Roadway work is expected to begin the evening of June 5 at 8:00 p.m.  During the evening work there may be temporary lane restrictions during the shifting of the road and line painting work.

Two lanes will open in both directions in the early morning of Thursday, June 6, 2013.

Pedestrian Access

The sidewalk on the north side of Steeles Avenue West will be closed from Founders Road to Murray Ross Parkway.  Pedestrians and cyclists please use the sidewalk and pedestrian ramps on the south side of Steeles Avenue West.

Lane Restrictions & Construction Vehicle Access

Traffic restrictions on Steeles Avenue West will continue and be modified to suit subway construction activities over the next three years. While driving through this construction zone, please use extra care and reduced speeds. Traffic movement will be reduced to ensure public safety and to allow for construction vehicles to access the site on both the north and south sides of Steeles Avenue West.

Paid duty officers will be on Steeles Avenue West directing traffic during the lane restrictions.
