New PRESTO screens rolling out on TTC buses, streetcars and on fare gates in stations

Starting tomorrow, Sat., Sept. 25, customers will see new screen images on all PRESTO card readers on TTC buses and streetcars.

The new screens will be more informative and include how much the customer paid or if they are transferring, their remaining balance, and whether they are paying with a monthly pass. The screens will also include more details if a PRESTO card or PRESTO Ticket has been declined, such as no rides left, expired PRESTO Ticket, already tapped, activate card online, blocked card and reload funds. In addition to these changes, a new three-toned chime sound and flashing yellow light will be introduced to indicate a child card is being used. Customers using a Fair Pass Discount Program fare type will hear one beep from the reader and fare gate when they tap their card, instead of two.

The fare gates will be updated throughout the month of October, beginning on Mon., Oct. 4.

These changes are being made in response to customer feedback and to enhance the customer experience. Providing this information to customers who are using a PRESTO card or PRESTO Ticket to pay their fare will also align the TTC with other transit agencies across the GTA.
