State of good repair projects deal with keeping the system and its infrastructure safe and reliable. At Kipling Station, this contract focuses on state of good repair works throughout the Station. This work will include multiple phases, beginning summer, 2023, until the end of 2024.
Effective August 19: The temporary bus platform located east of Kipling Station is closed at this time. Work is taking place to restore a Passenger Pick-Up Drop-Off area (PPUDO) in this area. Prior to construction beginning in August 2023, this area served as a PPUDO for customers. The PPUDO is scheduled for re-opening on November 1, 2024.
Effective July 15 to October, 2024: The west pedestrian entrance will be closed. All passengers will have to enter Kipling Station via the west PPUDO entrance.
What to expect during construction:
- Construction crews and construction vehicles will be present in the area.
- Installing temporary bus platforms in East Passenger Pick-Up and Drop-Off (PPUDO), and removal after bus platform work is completed.
- Excavating a trench through the PPUDO walkway and parking lot to expose the Station underground tunnel roof and top section of walls. Installing a concrete slab and overlay for support.
- Inside the Station building, carrying out localized repair at the mezzanine level, and at the subway platform level.
- Repair concrete delamination on bus platform level and bus ramp level.
- Replace damaged catch basins throughout Station property.
Noise, vibration and work hours:
Noise, dust and vibration associated with construction can be expected with this work. Efforts will be made to keep levels to a minimum.
Majority of the work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. As permitted, some weekend and overnight work may be required during the course of this project for safety and efficiency.
