TTC rail delivery, welding, storage and rail installation details information

  • Before rail installation starts, the TTC will deliver new rail and/or pre-cast rail panels overnight to ensure efficiency and safety, as there is less traffic during this time. The new rail will be stored in or near the work zone.
  • TTC crews may need to weld and grind smaller pieces of new rail into longer pieces before installation work starts. This will ensure faster installation and reduce disruption in the area.
  • As work progresses, TTC crews will draw rail from the storage area for installation at the King Street East and Church Street intersection.
  • The TTC will communicate the exact delivery date/s and rail storage locations before track installation work is expected to start.
  • TTC crews will need to work around the clock (24/7) during new rail installation to preserve the integrity and quality of the new rail and freshly poured concrete.
  • Noise and lights from construction vehicles/machinery should be expected.
