TTC back to school reminder

The Toronto Transit Commission is reminding students heading back to school to purchase their appropriate 2013-2014 TTC Student or Post-Secondary Student Photo ID card. Once you have this card, you can use the TTC’s $106 a month Student or Post-Secondary Student Metropass and enjoy unlimited travel.

The TTC Photo ID Centre is located at Sherbourne Station and is open Monday to Friday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on the first and last business day of each month from 10 a.m.to 7 p.m.  The cost of the photo is $5.25.

High school students, between 13 and 19 years of age, who live or attend high school in Toronto, must show a TTC Student Discount Photo ID card every time they pay a fare. Students can use a monthly Student Metropass, Student Weekly Pass, Student Ticket or exact Student cash fare. The Student Photo ID cards will be available on Tuesday, September 3.

Post-Secondary School Students must show a Post-Secondary TTC Student Photo ID card every time they use a monthly Post-Secondary Student Metropass, and they must be a full-time student at an accredited academic post-secondary institution in Toronto. For all other fare transactions, Post-Secondary students must use the Adult Weekly Pass, Token or Adult cash fare.

The TTC trip planner, available at www.ttc.ca, will provide the easiest and fastest route to and from your destination. Students can also sign up for TTC e-Services or follow @TTCnotices on Twitter for up-to-the minute service advisories.

Students travelling on the TTC are encouraged to carry their bags in hand when entering a TTC vehicle, and place it on their lap or on the floor in front of them while riding.
