TTC photo ID no longer required for middle, secondary school students

Starting Monday, September 1, the Toronto Transit Commission will no longer require middle school and high school students to carry TTC-issued photo ID when paying a discounted fare to travel on the TTC.

Students aged 16-19 must carry their school-issued student photo ID or government-issued photo ID to present as proof of age if requested by TTC staff.

The TTC will continue to issue post-secondary student TTC photo ID cards. Post-secondary students must carry their TTC photo ID card in order to use the Post-Secondary Metropass available to college and university students in Toronto. Likewise, those paying a senior fare must show proof of age if requested by TTC staff.
