TTC track work on Line 2 this Sunday

Surface routes diverting for events and construction

Line 2 Bloor-Danforth

This Sun., June 12 only, TTC track work between St George and Pape stations will require that portion of Line 2 to close. Shuttle buses will operate, stopping at all subway stations along the route.

Wheel-Trans will be available for customers requiring an accessible connection. Customers can speak with any TTC staff member to request the service.

Maintaining subway infrastructure in a state-of-good-repair is critical to ensuring a safe, reliable transit system. While the TTC does much of its maintenance work on the subway at the conclusion of service each night, it requires weekend closures for larger projects, as one weekend of work during a subway closure equals about five weeks of nightly work.

To provide a faster trip for customers, shuttle buses will not service local stops between subway stations, and parking will be restricted on both sides of Bloor St. and Danforth Ave. between the affected stations.
Regular service resumes Monday morning at 6 a.m. The next scheduled subway closures are:

  • Line 1 Yonge-University: St Clair West to Downsview stations – June 18-19
  • Line 3 Scarborough: Entire line June 25 – 26
  • Line 2 Bloor-Danforth: Pape to St George stations - late opening – June 26

501 Queen

This weekend, from Fri., June 10 at 7 p.m. until Mon., June 13 at 5 a.m., streetcars on the 501 Queen route will divert as TTC completes track replacement at the intersection of Queen St. E. and Jarvis St. Streetcars will divert as follows:
Eastbound: via Church St. and King St.

Westbound:  via King St., Church St., Richmond St. and Victoria St.

Shuttle buses will operate on Queen St. between University Ave. and Woodward Ave., near the intersection of Queen St. and Coxwell Ave.

Streetcars continue to divert for watermain work on Queen St. W., between Shaw St. and Spadina Ave. This diversion will continue until October.

Though shuttle buses operating on streetcar routes are Proof-of-Payment, most buses are not yet equipped with PRESTO readers. Customers should carry cash and tokens during this transition period.

47 Lansdowne

Southbound buses on the 47 Lansdowne route will divert at Dundas St. W. via Dufferin St. and Queen St. from Mon., June 13 at 6 a.m. until Sept. 8 due City of Toronto watermain work on Lansdowne Ave. south of Dundas St. W.
Northbound buses will be running normally during this period.

505 Dundas

This Sat., June 11 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., streetcars on the 505 Dundas route will divert both ways via Ossington Ave. and College St. for the Dundas West Street Festival, occurring between Lansdowne Ave. and Ossington Ave.

As the TTC and the City of Toronto complete important infrastructure work this weekend — and throughout the summer — customers should check ttc.ca for bus and streetcar route diversions. As well, to accommodate the many events that occur in a vibrant and exciting city like Toronto, some surface routes will divert for short periods of time.
