Maintenance work will impact service on TTC Lines 2 and 3 this weekend
This weekend, Aug. 26-27, essential maintenance work will close the portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Broadview and St George stations on Saturday only and all of Line 3 Scarborough on Sunday only.
On Saturday, City of Toronto and TTC crews will carry out beam work on the Prince Edward (Bloor) Viaduct requiring the partial closure on Line 2. Shuttle buses will operate frequently, stopping only at subway stations along the route. Use of larger articulated buses and parking restrictions in the area of Broadview Station will improve shuttle service.
Wheel-Trans buses will operate from Broadview to St George stations for customers requiring an accessible connection. Customers can speak with TTC staff at these stations to request the service.
Bay Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for the sale of fares and connections to other TTC routes. Regular subway service resumes Sunday at 8 a.m.
On Sunday, essential life extension work on Line 3 Scarborough will require the entire line, from Kennedy to McCowan stations, to close. Shuttle buses will operate, stopping only at stations along the route.
Wheel-Trans will be available at Kennedy Station for customers requiring an accessible connection. Customers can speak with any TTC staff member to request the service.
Midland, Ellesmere and McCowan stations will be closed. All other stations will remain open for the sale of fares. Regular service resumes Monday morning at 6 a.m.
While the TTC does much of its subway maintenance work at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend closures to complete essential state-of-good-repair work, like replacing track and maintaining switches. One weekend of work during a closure is equivalent to about five weeks of nightly work.
There are no planned subway closures on Labour Day weekend. The next scheduled subway closures are:
- Sept. 9-10 - Line 1 Yonge-University: Lawrence West to Sheppard West for track work.
- Sept. 16-17 - Line 1 Yonge-University: St George to Sheppard West for signal work.
- Sept. 23-24 - Line 2 Bloor-Danforth: Kipling to Islington for track work.
