TTC’s #ThisIsWhere campaign earns distinguished CPRS ACE Award
The TTC’s #ThisIsWhere campaign, aimed at improving safety and combating harassment on public transit, won a prestigious Silver Award in Marketing Communications last evening at an event hosted by the Toronto Chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS).
Deborah Brown, TTC’s Acting Head of Customer Communications, accepted the CPRS Achieving Communications Excellence (ACE) award for the groundbreaking campaign that confronts different kinds of harassment through a series of real-life customer encounters, including sexual harassment and harassment based on gender identity, ability and race.
#ThisIsWhere was launched in September 2017 and accompanied the release of the SafeTTC app that enables customers to report harassment, assault and other safety and security issues directly to TTC staff.
The award recognizes outstanding strategy development and implementation of integrated communications programs, including but not limited to media relations, digital media, paid media and creative material development.

The free SafeTTC app is available for Apple and Android-powered devices and offers users the ability to report numerous non-emergency activities such as harassment, safety concerns and suspicious activities. In the event of an emergency requiring immediate police, fire or medical assistance, the TTC advises customers to use the familiar yellow emergency alarm, call 9-1-1 or alert a uniformed TTC employee.
