TTC revises Line 1 closure this weekend
The TTC is advising customers that this weekend's planned subway closure on Line 1 has been revised as crews continue installation of the Automated Train Control (ATC) signal system.
On Saturday only, the line will be closed between Spadina and Union stations. Sunday until 10 p.m., the closure will extend from St Clair West to Union stations. After 10pm on Sunday, the closure will extend to include King Station.
Shuttle buses will run throughout the weekend, stopping at stations along the route. Customers traveling in the downtown core should also consider using the Yonge side of Line 1 and streetcars on College St. (506 Carlton), Queen St. (501 Queen) and King St. (504 A/B King). On 505 Dundas, replacement buses are running.
ATC is a more modern, reliable signal system that will replace the current decades-old system on Line 1. When it is fully installed on Line 1, ATC will provide a more modern and reliable signal system that will help the TTC improve capacity by allowing for increased trips on the line.
Museum Station will be closed throughout the weekend. Dupont will be closed on Saturday only. All others will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes.
Wheel-Trans will be available upon request from any station. Customers can speak with a TTC staff member for more information about service frequency. Customers who require an accessible connection on Sunday night are advised to use Queen Station.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend closures to complete critical infrastructure and ATC upgrades, as well as work on the Eglinton Crosstown.
The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternative routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.
The next scheduled subway closures are:
- Feb. 9-10 - Line 1: St Clair to Lawrence for Eglinton Crosstown construction
- Feb. 23-24 - Line 1: St Clair West to Union for ATC signal upgrades
