TTC puts third electric bus model into service


Tomorrow, Tues., Sept. 8, members of the media are invited to join The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Toronto Mayor John Tory and TTC CEO Rick Leary as they celebrate the TTC’s third delivery of electric buses and newly installed charging infrastructure at the Eglinton Bus Division/Garage.

An in-depth technical tour led by members of the TTC’s eBus team will be provided ahead of the news conference for those who are interested in a deeper understanding of the vehicles and charging infrastructure. Members of the media who would like to participate in the tour are asked to RSVP to media@ttc.ca by 4 p.m. today to reserve a time slot.

Event details are as follows:

Date: Tues., Sept. 8, 2020

Time: The news conference will begin at 1 p.m. sharp.

Media who are participating in a technical walk-through are asked to arrive by 12:10 p.m. Those who do not require a walk-through are asked to arrive by 12:45 p.m.

The first BYD Canada Co. Ltd.-manufactured eBus will be launched into service immediately following the event.

Location: Eglinton Bus Division, 38 Comstock Rd., northwest corner of Comstock Rd. and Lebovic Ave. Parking will be available in the bus garage. Staff and signage will be on hand to direct attendees to the appropriate parking location.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all guests, who are able, shall wear a mask or face covering, which covers the nose, mouth and chin as required under City of Toronto by-law. For more information on the by-law, please visit Toronto.ca/COVID 19.
