TTC offers free rides on Warriors' Day for military personnel and veterans

In honour of Warriors’ Day, the TTC will offer free rides to active members of the Canadian military and veterans, along with one companion each, on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Canadian military members, veterans and peacekeepers are required to show their service medals/ribbons to receive free access to TTC buses, streetcars, Wheel-Trans and the subway system.

“It is with heartfelt appreciation that we continue our annual tradition of providing free travel to all current members of the Canadian Armed Forces in uniform as well as war and peacekeeping veterans wearing their medals on Warriors’ Day,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary. “It is also my privilege to announce that the TTC Honour Guard will be representing our organization in the annual parade at Exhibition Place.”

For more than 100 years, the Warriors’ Day Parade in Toronto has honoured Canada’s veterans and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Offering free TTC rides every August 19 to veterans, active members of Canada’s Armed Forces, and one companion, is a small token of the TTC’s appreciation for their service.

Each year, the TTC recognizes the valuable contributions of the Canadian military, veterans and peacekeepers by providing them free travel on Warriors’ Day and on Remembrance Day.

The 2023 Warriors’ Day Parade at the Canadian National Exhibition is held in honour of the women in the Canadian Armed Forces, Emergency Services and the Home Front.
