Long weekend service adjustments and upcoming subway closures

There are no scheduled subway closures this Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, and with plenty of transit options, the TTC is the fastest, most convenient, and eco-friendly way to get to and from all the events and attractions across Toronto.

The TTC is advising customers of early nightly subway closures in the coming week to enable track work on a portion of Line 1 Yonge-University.

Labour Day Holiday

On Mon., Sept. 2, the TTC will be running a holiday service for Labour Day. All TTC routes will operate a Sunday service schedule but will start earlier, at approximately 6 a.m. Any routes that do not normally operate on Sundays, will not operate on Labour Day. Customers are encouraged to visit https://www.ttc.ca/routes-and-schedules/Service-details-and-holidays for more information.

Several TTC routes will be adjusted to accommodate the annual Labour Day Parade.

  • 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 29 Dufferin will redirect at Dundas St. W. and operate to King St. W. via Landsdowne Ave., Queen St. W., and Cowen and Elm Grove avenues.

  • 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 63 Ossington will extend to Peter St., via Stokes St., Shaw St., and King St. W.

Replacement buses will run between Dundas West Station and Ossington Ave. via Dunas St. W. Eastbound buses will travel along College St.

Tuesday to Friday – Early nightly subway closures between Eglinton and College stations

Starting Tues., Sept. 3, until Fri., Sept. 6, subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Eglinton and College stations will end nightly at midnight (11:59 p.m.) to accommodate track renewal work.

A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding locations. College Station is not equipped with elevators. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

Summerhill and Rosedale stations will be closed during these hours. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes. Entrance closures will be in effect at Bloor-Yonge Station (Hayden St.) and Wellesley Station (Dundonald St.), with all other entrances remaining open.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.

Reduced subway speed zones

The TTC is advising customers travelling on several portions of Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth of reduced speed zones, which may result in longer than normal travel times along certain sections of the subway.

As a safety precaution, the TTC reduces speed along sections of rail where maintenance is required, allowing trains to run safely during service hours while minimizing disruptions to customers. They also protect workers who may be required at track level to conduct routine or emergency inspections.

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider the additional time they may need for their trips. A complete list of current reduced speed zones can be found on the TTC website at: https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service/Reduced-Speed-Zones.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service, as well as alternate route options. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on X or sign up for eAlerts.
