Take the TTC this long weekend, TTC adds service for Toronto Caribbean Carnival
There are no scheduled subway closures this Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, and with plenty of transit options, the TTC is the fastest, most convenient, and eco-friendly way to get to and from all the events and attractions across Toronto.
Toronto Caribbean Carnival
Those attending the Toronto Caribbean Carnival and The Grand Parade on Sat., Aug. 3, can take the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth to Dufferin Station and transfer to a dedicated shuttle bus, or go to Bathurst Station and transfer to the 511 Bathurst. Customers can also take the subway, Line 1 Yonge-University to Union Station and transfer to the 509 Harbourfront.
There will be extra subway service on Lines 1 and 2 all day Saturday, and additional streetcar service on the 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst. The streetcar stop at Fleet St. and Strachan Ave. will not be serviced during the event.
A dedicated Toronto Caribbean Carnival shuttle bus will operate between Dufferin Station and Dufferin Gate Loop to get revelers to and from the Parade safely. TTC personnel will be on-site to help direct customers to the appropriate boarding locations. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak to any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
Starting at 10 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 2, until 6 a.m. on Sun., Aug. 4, several bus and streetcar routes will also be diverting to accommodate road closures for the event, including:
- 80 Queensway eastbound will divert along The Queensway, to Roncesvalles Ave. and Howard Park Ave. Regular westbound service will be maintained.
- 307 Bathurst Night bus will divert southbound from Fort York Blvd., via Fleet St. and Manitoba Dr. to Exhibition Loop. Regular northbound service will be maintained.
- Until 10 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 3, 501A Queen streetcars will divert both ways to Sunnyside Loop via Queen St.
VELD Music Festival
Those attending the VELD Music Festival can take Line 1 Yonge-University to Downsview Park Station to get to and from the event. On Fri., Aug. 2, an early subway closure between St Clair West and Sheppard West stations will be delayed by one hour and begin at midnight, ensuring customers leaving VELD at 11 p.m. can take the subway.
The 101 Downsview Park will divert both ways along Sheppard Ave. W. to Downsview Park Station from 12 p.m. Fri., Aug 2, until midnight on Sun., Aug. 4. Higher than normal traffic volume is expected, which may result in delays for customers on several bus routes, including the 41 Keele, 84 Sheppard West, 106 Sentinel, 107 York University Heights, and 108 Driftwood.
National Bank Open
Customers heading to the National Bank Open can take Line 1 Yonge-University to Pioneer Village Station, which is a short walk from Sobeys Stadium. Customers with a National Bank Open ticket can ride home for free from Pioneer Village station, by presenting their ticket to a Customer Service Agent at the fare gates.
Bus routes close to the venue include the 106 Sentinel, 108 Driftwood, and 960 Steeles West Express.
Simcoe Day holiday service
On Mon., Aug. 5, the TTC will be running a holiday service for Simcoe Day.
