Upcoming subway closures and weekend service adjustments

This Sat., Jun. 1, and Sun., Jun. 2, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between St Clair and Sheppard-Yonge stations due to track work, including the installation of a new rail switch at York Mills Station. Station improvement work will also be carried out, including construction of new accessible features at Lawrence Station.

Shuttle buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

Lawrence Station will be closed. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets and connect to surface routes.

Monday – Friday early nightly subway closures between St Clair and Sheppard-Yonge stations

Mon., Jun. 3 to Fri., Jun. 7, subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between St Clair and Sheppard-Yonge stations will end nightly at 11 p.m. to enable crews to continue work track and structural work.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.

Reduced subway speed zones

The TTC is advising customers travelling on several portions of Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth of reduced speed zones, which may result in longer than normal travel times along certain sections of the subway.

As a safety precaution, the TTC reduces speed along sections of rail where maintenance is required, allowing trains to run safely during service hours while minimizing disruptions to customers. They also protect workers who may be required at track level to conduct routine or emergency inspections.

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider the additional time they may need for their trips. A complete list of current reduced speed zones can be found on the TTC website at: https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service/Reduced-Speed-Zones.

Bus diversions

Starting at 4 p.m. on Fri., May 31, until 12 a.m. on Sun., Jun. 2, westbound service on the 31 Greenwood will be diverting along Queen St. E. due to lane restrictions on Eastern Ave.

From 2 a.m. on Sun., Jun. 2, the 329 Dufferin Night will be turning back at Dufferin Gate Loop to accommodate road closures for the Bike for Brain Health. Stops within Exhibition Place will not be served. During the event, customers on 91 Woodbine and 95 York Mills routes can expect delays due to lane restrictions on York Mills Rd.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service, as well as alternate route options. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on X or sign up for eAlerts.
