TTC and ACAT hosting Public Forum on Accessible Transit tonight
The TTC and its Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit (ACAT) will be hosting the 17th Annual Public Forum on Accessible Transit in North York tonight. This hybrid event, offering in-person and online participation, is a crucial platform for Wheel-Trans customers, stakeholders, advocacy groups, and the broader community to engage with the TTC’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility across its services.
“We are investing more than ever as a City government to make the TTC barrier-free and fully accessible because everyone should be able to travel independently and with dignity throughout our great city,” said Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. “I commend the TTC and the dedicated members of ACAT for hosting tonight’s Public Forum on Accessible Transit, and for their commitment to building a better, more reliable, and more equitable TTC.”
“In my roles as TTC Chair and Chair of the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee, I deeply value the diversity of all transit users, and am committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion at the TTC,” said TTC Chair Jamaal Myers. “I am eagerly looking forward to hearing ideas, feedback, and suggestions from transit riders on how we can continue to improve accessibility on the TTC. I know that by working together, we can create a transit system that meets everyone’s needs.”
“The Public Forum on Accessible Transit provides a unique opportunity for us to come together, share ideas, and work towards a more inclusive and accessible transit system,” said TTC ACAT Chair Anita Dressler. “Whether you are a Wheel-Trans customer, a stakeholder, an advocacy group, or a member of the broader community, your input is invaluable to us. Your voice matters, and we want to hear from you.”
“The TTC is making significant strides through the Easier Access Program toward making our transit system accessible for all customers, and there is more to do,” said TTC Interim CEO Greg Percy. “We invite all customers interested in accessible transit to join us at tonight’s forum to engage with TTC staff and ACAT members and to share their thoughts, ideas, and feedback. Together, we can make a difference and create a more inclusive and accessible transit system for all.”
Participants at tonight’s Public Forum on Accessible Transit will receive updates from TTC staff on accessibility initiatives, including the Wheel-Trans 10-year Strategy, Family of Services, and Easier Access project, and plans for the continued improvement of transit in Toronto.
Customers will also have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback based on their experiences using the TTC.
