TTC monitoring weekend weather, advising customers of service adjustments and early nightly subway closures
The TTC is preparing rail yards, garages, and critical infrastructure for another system of heavy snow forecasted for Toronto this weekend. The TTC Transit Control Centre is monitoring advice from Environment Canada and will implement storm mitigation plans to keep customers and employees safe while delivering as much reliable service as possible.
There are no scheduled subway closures on Lines 1, 2, or 4 this weekend. The transit agency is encouraging motorists to stay off the roads and take transit to get around the city this weekend. The TTC will resume state-of-good-repair track work on Tues., Feb. 18 with early nightly closures on Line 1 Yonge-University between Bloor-Yonge and Osgoode Stations.
Monday Family Day Holiday
On Mon., Feb. 17, the TTC will be operating a holiday schedule for Family Day. All TTC routes will operate on their Sunday service schedules, but will start earlier, at approximately 6 a.m. Routes that do not normally operate on Sundays will not operate on the holiday.
Tuesday to Friday – Early nightly subway closures between Bloor-Yonge and Osgoode stations
Tues., Feb. 18, through Fri., Feb. 21, subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Bloor-Yonge and Osgoode stations will end nightly at 11 p.m. to accommodate planned track work as part of the TTC’s state-of-good-repair program.
A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
College Station will be closed during this time. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
