Upcoming scheduled subway closures for state-of-good-repair work and station upgrades
Beginning at 11 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 24, and throughout this weekend, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between St George and Lawrence West stations due to rail replacement work as part of the TTC’s state-of-good-repair program.
A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
Dupont Station will be closed during this time. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes.
The following station entrances will be closed:
- Spadina Station – Kendal Ave.
- St Clair West – Heath St.
- Glencairn – Viewmount Ave.
Subway service will resume at the scheduled service start on Mon., Jan. 27.
Monday to Friday – Early nightly subway closures between St George and St Andrew stations
Mon., Jan. 27 through Fri., Jan. 31, subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between St George and St Andrew stations will end nightly at 11 p.m. due to planned track work and station upgrades.
Shuttle buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
Customers travelling downtown have several options to connect with stations on the Yonge side of Line 1:
- Change to an eastbound Line 2 Bloor-Danforth train at St George Station and head to Bloor-Yonge Station for the Yonge side of Line 1.
- Take any eastbound streetcar from Queen’s Park, St Patrick, Osgoode, and St Andrew stations. The TTC will be running extra streetcar service.
Museum, Queen’s Park, and St Patrick stations will be closed during these hours. All other stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
