Green check mark Presto

PRESTO is the fastest and easiest way to pay. Customers can switch to PRESTO at any time and pay with a physical or digital PRESTO card or PRESTO Ticket.

  • PRESTO cards can be purchased for $4 at Fare Vending Machines at all TTC stations, at all Shoppers Drug Mart locations, Loblaws, online at prestocard.ca or from the TTC’s Customer Service Centre at 1900 Yonge Street above Davisville Station.
  • Digital PRESTO cards can be loaded to an Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for free through the PRESTO app or online at prestocard.ca
  • PRESTO cards are automatically set to deduct an adult fare. Youths, post-secondary students and seniors must have their card set to deduct a specific fare. They can do this by taking their card, along with government issued photo identification, or their TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID card, to a Shoppers Drug Mart location or the TTC’s Customer Service Centre.
  • Monthly Passes can be purchased through the PRESTO app, Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, online at prestocard.ca, at all Shoppers Drug Mart locations, Loblaws, or the Fare Vending and Self-Serve Reload Machines at all TTC stations. A PRESTO card must be set for a youth, post-secondary student or senior before a Youth, Post-Secondary Student or Senior Monthly Pass can be loaded.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why is the TTC going to stop accepting tickets, tokens and day passes?

The number of customers using TTC tickets, tokens and day passes is extremely low and has been declining with less than one per cent paying with tickets and tokens.

The TTC has been working to modernize fare payment across the system and looking for ways to save lost revenue through fare evasion.

The TTC stopped selling its tokens, youth/senior tickets and day passes at stations in December 2019. Third-party retailers stopped selling TTC tickets in July 2022 and TTC tokens in March 2023.

  • When was it decided that the TTC would stop accepting tokens, tickets and day passes?

The TTC Board endorsed the Fare Compliance Action Plan in September 2024, which includes the recommendation to phase out the use of TTC tickets, tokens and day passes across the system. Refer to the Fare Compliance Action Plan for more information.

  • Without a token/ticket/day pass how am I supposed to pay my fare?

You can deposit exact change in the fare box at stations, and on buses and streetcars, or use cash to purchase a PRESTO card or PRESTSO Ticket, or load funds or a monthly pass on a PRESTO card at Fare Vending Machines in TTC stations.

You can also tap your debit or credit card, including those in your Apple or Google Wallet on your smart device, or load a digital PRESTO card for free in your mobile wallet.

  • When is the last day I can use my tokens/tickets/day passes?

  • How do I get a refund on my unused tokens/tickets/day passes?

You cannot get a refund, exchange or credit for on any unused TTC tickets, tokens or day passes.

  • I have a lot of tokens/tickets. Can I get a refund on any tokens/tickets I can’t use before December 31, 2024?

  • Can I load the value of unused TTC tickets, tokens or day passes I have onto my PRESTO card?

No. We are unable to load the value of unused TTC tickets, tokens or day passes onto your PRESTO card because they are two different forms of fare payment.
