St Clair West Station - return of streetcar service
Timeline: 11:00 p.m. on November 1st to 5:00 a.m. on November 14th 2024*
*The dates are dependent on unforeseen events and the ongoing emergency Toronto Water repairs at Deer Park/St. Clair Ave.
What we are doing and why:
TTC is scheduled re-open the St Clair West Station Loop to streetcars and buses ahead of schedule on November 14. To complete final overhead power, structural and track upgrades at St Clair West Station, 512 St Clair buses must replace 512 streetcars across the corridor temporarily from November 1st (11:00pm) to November 14th (5:00am).
Effective November 14th at 5:00 a.m., streetcars will return to St Clair West Station. Buses (33 Forest Hill, 90 Vaughan, and 126 Christie) will return to St Clair West Station effective November 17th.
The temporary removal of streetcar service Nov 1 (11:00 p.m.) to Nov 14 (5:00 a.m.) is a necessity, in order to complete the final phase of construction which will return the entire St Clair West Station loop back to operation for our customers. This final phase of work could not be done when streetcar service was removed earlier this year - as that would have prolonged the full removal of streetcar service from June to mid November.
Work activities at St Clair West Station:
- Overhead work
- Track work
- Structural work
Work activities on St Clair Avenue:
- During this period, crews will rehabilitate the streetcar shelter at St. Clair West at Spadina. This work is expected to begin on November 4 and will last approximately one week.
Transit Service Changes – 11:00 p.m. on November 1st to 5:00 a.m. on November 14th
- 512/312 St Clair streetcars will be temporarily suspended with a full bus replacement operating between St Clair Station and Gunns Road (Keele Street), serving curbside stops along the full routing. St Clair West Station will be served from existing curbside stops located just outside the station’s two main entrances.
- 33 Forest Hill and 126 Christie buses will continue to serve St Clair West Station from existing curbside stops located just outside the station’s two main entrances.
- 90 Vaughan buses will maintain their existing diversion to Bathurst Station via Bathurst Street.
What to expect during construction work:
- The majority of the work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Some overnight and weekend work will be required for safety purposes. For latest information on service changes, please visit our website.
St Clair Station Construction (2025):
TTC will be starting structural upgrades at St Clair Station as early as Summer 2025.
